With support from Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) through the MACP Youth Camping & Swimming program, in 2020, Girl Scouts of the USA launched a national study on the inclusivity of overnight Girl Scout camps. Findings guided GSUSA’s strategy to break down barriers to girls’ resident camp participation—ultimately ensuring that all girls, including girls who are marginalized by society, have opportunities to build skills and try new things as they develop a deep appreciation for the natural world.
To continue our partnership, GSUSA will work to enable a full-scale implementation of proven strategies to increase access and inclusion at Girl Scout overnight camps for underserved and underrepresented girls and develop robust evaluation efforts to measure impactful experiences across the Girl Scout Movement. The partnership honors GSUSA’s longstanding commitment to preparing all girls to lead in the outdoors and everywhere else.
